Pasta, pizza and great coffee are no longer the best reasons to make a stop at the "Dolce Vita" country as starting from yesterday and for one week, the city will be the host of great shows from talended and inspiring designers such as Alberta Ferretti, Emilio Pucci, Missoni, to only cite a few...
The first show I wish to feature is Gucci's which took place yesterday, kicking off a week of events. The show which was Gucci’s 90th anniversary one, was a concrete proof that Gucci, like good wine, improves over the course of the years. The collection was a perfect representation of what we call “Le Chic à l’Italienne” as elegant silhouettes were hitting the runway.
Like many other collections seen in London and New York, color was the name of the game, leaving no room for boring and sad looks. Turquoise, purple, camel, red and blue were the main colors, used successively as coats, fedoras, dresses etc. While we could notice a slight 70’s inspiration, the interpretation of that period traduced with great subtleness in the collection. Fur and the fedora were nearly common denominators to every look adding a twist to the sometimes strict outfits.
Also, you can notice that a great emphasize is given to accessories as most models were holding bags, from shoulder to 50's style bags, and some wearing leather gloves.
Modern patent leather dresses were opposed to vaporous ones as well as to strict structured suits, traducing the variety of the collection designed for elegant and modern middle-aged women to young women in their early thirties who are willing to dare more fashion-wise.
Here are a few of my favorite looks from the show! Enjoy!
