The MET Museum will be launching tomorrow an exhibition honoring the late Alexander McQueen’s life and work, organized by The Costume Insitute, and in which one will find a great retrospective of his creations from his postgraduate collection of 1992 to his final runway presentation, which took place after his death in February 2010.
The exhibition will feature approximately one hundred examples “including signature designs such as the bumster trouser, the kimono jacket, and the Origami frock coat, as well as pieces reflecting the exaggerated silhouettes of the 1860s, 1880s, 1890s, and 1950s that he crafted into contemporary silhouettes transmitting romantic narratives.”
In other words, A MUST-SEE !!!
As more practical information:
- Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty
- May 4, 2011–July 31, 2011
- Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Exhibition Hall, 2nd floor
To inaugurate this one-of-a-kind show, The MET Ball Costume Institute Gala was held in NYC in which were gathered some of the A-list, all dressed up spectacularly for the occasion, probably in a way to honor the late fashion genius.
