Phoebe Philo or how to rejuvenate a brand!

Most of you might know famous British fashion designer Phoebe Philo, Creative Director of Celine since September 2008, recognized for her minimal yet feminine and extremely elegant designs.

Graduate from Central Saint Martins in 1996, Philo began working for Chloe as Stella McCartney’s design assistant to then succeed her as Creative Director in 2001, role which she resigned from in 2006, allegedly, to spend more time with her family.

Since she reentered the business as in charge of Celine’s design, the British designer encountered her usual success as she gave a new breath to this well-established fashion institution by creating beautiful and wearable collections. It is amazing how Philo can transform a simple outfit as a beige tunic for example into a unique and elegant piece one would die to have in its wardrobe. Since the designer took the lead of Celine’s collection, the brand showed a new face, a more desirable one.

The new collection for Spring/Summer 2011 is pure eye candy, as structured, minimal and yet audacious and creative looks were strolling down the runway. While beige and camel, Philo’s signature colors, were the main tones used, we noticed the presence of brown and dark blue along with touches of orange and green.

As you might have noticed, Phoebe Philo, who was by the way named Designer of the Year by the British Fashion Awards 2010, is one of my favorite designers and am just so very impressed of the work she did at Celine.

Take a look at the Spring/Summer 2011 show.
